Number of rings for incoming.

My wife's consistent determination to befuddle my mind has her samsung 5 only ringing my samsung 6 twice before a silent period. I do not have any form of answering system or service in action. The net only gives me how many rings before answerphone type thing cutting in. Nothing about just being silent. I'm at a loss.

This is serious because my doctor is doing remote consultations and said he repeatedly got put through to answering thing. He's very sharp, and anyway was calling via the practice computer which has called me sporadically for years. I wondered if there was any connection between the two. Any thoughts?

My doctor has again been trying to reach me. He has the correct number but it rings and eventually goes to Giff Gaff which I'd never heard of. Very distressing as I'm ill, and needed his attention.

I'm with EE and have my answer service off. Never initialized.

Any ideas what to do. The practice computer system looks pretty up to date and he can't be having many other problems or he'd know. I'm at a loss.

Have you tried calling it yourself from another phone?
It does look as if someone has set a diversion to a GiffGaff line (which uses 02, not EE)

Try calling EE service and get them to reset your call options to default. That should clear it.

Loose, I've been frustrated by how quickly my Virgin phone switches to Voicemail and your plea triggered me to fix it! I've just researched and there is a possible solution:

For EE, type the following stars, numbers and # in to your phone keypad and press the dial button - the phone should then be updated to ring for 30 seconds before switching to voicemail:

**61*07953222222**30#

The 30 = 30 seconds and is the max you can let it ring for. You may well still have a voicemail account even though you've never used it.

Hope that works for you.

One of the poorly documented 'features' of (un)smart phones!. The ringout timing is determined by your service provider, NOT by any of the setup selections. As pointed out, the maximum for most is 30 seconds but the usual 'as purchased' is 15. Would I be being cynical if I suggested a financial motive?

They could have but, tbh, I guess they assume most people either have their mobile on them so can answer (or check whether you want to answer!!!!!) within 15 seconds and, if after 15 seconds, people probably will not answer it for whatever reason. I let any unrecognised number go un-answered and most turn out to be scam/phishing calls when I look the numbers up if they don't leave a message.

Mind you, LR's issue is odd to put it mildly - hopefully sorted now. Cheers, H 'n' H

It's become a bit JB-ish (especially the bit I've moved) and not appropriate for the computer section, so will ramble over there.

It was checked at 43 rings today and then caller told unavailable.

In haste.

No further with the Doctor's workstation misdialing.
