iphone malware

Every time I open my GMX emails on my iphone, there are three emails that show themselves somewhere in my inbox and not consecutively. "Bleeping Computer" says it might be the SOBER malware but doesn`t say to get rid. Strangely these three ads do not show on my Win7. Any ideas?

If it's the SOBER worm, then it should not be able to do anything to your iPhone. Can you be a bit more specific, how do you open your e-mails on your iPhone, through the Mail app? How did you configure the account, as POP or as IMAP? If you access the same mailbox through both an iPhone and a desktop, you can get differences for several reasons, depending on how you configured everything.

If possible, open your mailbox using a webmail app and delete the mails in there without opening them.

Thanks, I open emails on iphone by logging into the app, sometimes I forget to sign out though, and the same applies to the desktop. Not sureabout POP or IMAP.

May be similar to your problem.

I found I couldn't delete some e-mails from my iphone although they happily deleted on my ipad.

Eventually solved the problem by deleting my email account on iphone, hard turned iphone off and on, re-installed my account checking that the boxes mirrored my ipad account.

The emails did not reappear.

Googling the problem indicates it maybe something to do with imap emails being held on my isp's srver.

Sounds like you're using the GMX app and perhaps webmail on the desktop. I would suggest contacting the GMX helpdesk about this as it is something pretty specific to that ISP.

finncapt has the solution, many thanks. Turns out 2 weeks ago I recieved an email christmas card, that when opened caused three emails [spam] tobe added to inbox. I know it was this christmas card email as I started deleting messages individually and then removing gmx after a switch off. So it wasn`t the SOBER virus after all.
