File transfer, Android to iPad
 

Have just joined Android users (Blackview A60) and wish to transfer picture files to iPad.
Bluetooth powered up on both devices, each is ‘discovered’ by the other; however iPad refuses to connect to A60 - files ‘sent’ from A60 via Photos - Share - Bluetooth, reports ‘not sent/received’.
I had previously inhibited many ‘connections’ on iPad for security; after review and reinstating most, there is still no connection.
What obvious selection / inhibit have I overlooked ?


As an alternative, using google files on Android, the app wishes to share but fails to identify the iPad - not set to ‘receive’.
Opened google files on iPad, but still no way of enabling ‘receive’ as required by A60.
Help, suggestions please; nothing obvious from Apple help or previous Pprune for either problem.

Silly suggestion perhaps but could you use Google Drive as an intermediary? Upload to Drive from phone, then access them via iPad. A two-step solution but it might get you there.

I use a app SHAREit. works on android and apple products. transfer files etc. using bluetooth or home wifi.

An excellent suggestion which works on Drive. Unfortunately the data volume is large and internet speed very poor.

I had looked at other apps - without success, but will look at the new references (dubious because of basic link issue - input to iPad).
I have also used File Explorer for two-stage transfer via hard drive connected to router - as identified, with success, in an earlier thread. Slow internet !
Just hoping that the single-stage transfer via Bluetooth would be faster.

Also now ‘playing’ with the idea of cable transfer between Android and iPad using the lates iPad software update.

P.S. Now established Bluetooth contact after resetting A60 tethering; unfortunately files still not being sent.

I had a quick look at the Bluetooth options and confirmed my guess: Apple doesn't allow Bluetooth file sharing other than through their own Airdrop protocol. That means that file sharing through Bluetooth is only available between Apple devices, or between non-Apple devices, the two don't mix. I guess you'll have to find a place with a decent WiFi connection and spend a bit of time on this. Another option would be a USB drive with a Lightning/Micro-USB connector that works with both iDevices and Android (here's an example: but there appear to be several options available). With that you could transfer to the drive, then transfer from drive to iPad. I don't have any experience with this and I'm always a bit wary of cheap solutions with things like this, but as you'll most likely only use it for this particular purpose, it might fit the bill.

If you have another computer available you should be able to upload the photos to that without any major issues. There appear to be plenty of applications that allow you to move photos from the computer to the Pad

Photosync. It uses a wifi connection to transfer via a PC. Must have the Android, PC and Ipad on same network. Install Photosync on all three. Two way transfer, highly configurable (extracts photos from those ridiculous ipad folders). The best part is that can correctly date-time name the ipad images and videos when saving them to a PC, if you use the photo-taken date and time as your file names. I have never had any consistent success with simply dragging them off then renaming them with a PC file renamer. An absolute lifesaver for me. Well worth the dosh. :ok:

I download photos from an Android S9 to my pc.

Then use the itunes programme to take over selected photos to the ipad.
Long winded, but it works.
The ipad doesn't want to connect to anything to receive files, although it will send music via bluetooth to an external speaker, (Cambridge) and will send via direct cable music to my Denon.
