odd GoPro file name defaults
I have been using a GoPro7 for a few months for both stills and MP4 activities. I only just got to download all of my endeavours and notice that the file names are not consistent. Some of the photos are "Gxxxxxxx.jpg" and others are GOPRxxxx.jpg". The only difference I can see from the directory listing after copying to a Linux Mint desktop computer is that the "G" suffix files are all 2.4MB and the "GOPR" suffix files are all bigger than that. The times/dates are intermingled.
All of the MP4 files are "GH" suffix. I have not messed with the camera settings knowingly so what is going on with the filenames? Anyone? Thanks, Rans6....................... |
Edit:- Tables below looked beautiful in the "Reply" window but are somewhat spoiled now that it is actually posted. Oh well...
google - gopro file name convention https://gopro.com/help/articles/ques...ing-Convention Very comprehensive article. Looks excellent but does not seem to match with your description of "GoPro7" These may be relevant - Camera Models: HD HERO2, HERO3, HERO3+, HERO (2014), HERO Session, HERO4, HERO5 Black, HERO5 Session, HERO (2018) This table indicates the file-naming convention for various recording types: Single Photo GOPRxxxx.mp4 GOPRxxxx.jpg

thanks for the reply. That would be it.
Although I didn't mess with the settings knowingly I do recall that on occasion I had to delete a large number of duplicate photos. Finger trouble on my behalf I presume. TA, Rans6............. |
