ADSL Router advice;
 

I've currently got an Asus DSL-AC68U which I'm not overly impressed with. It was bought a couple of years ago as the latest & greatest along with some AC cards for a couple of laptops & has never really been a great performer with the AC laptops or other N devices despite being reconfigured several times. The final straw is being locked out of the user interface, despite correctly pointing at the thing & having the correct credentials (apparently a common issue with it....).


So I'm now on the market for a replacement AC ADSL modem router that's reasonably quick, but more importantly stable. It will be working in a regular 3 bedroom house, generally with 2 users, max of 4?

MU-MIMO seems like a useful addition, but I have no experience with it?

Any opinions appreciated - in the meantime I'm away to find something powerful that I can detonate inside the Asus....

Just a personal preference but I find Netgear stuff works fairly intuitively and performs well. Mostly a case of just plugging it in and it works without too much fiddling about.

I'm a bit that way myself & have generally bought Netgear for a number of years for most network requirements - went for the Asus because of the glowing reviews...

I am at the end of a long exchange line and use this:

Billion BiPAC 7800DXL

Not cheap, but a rock solid performer. In 4 years the only down time I have had was a fault at the ISP end. Available on the South American river place.

I too agree with Gouli about the Netgear but haven't had anything to do with their latest gear but the reviews look good.

Billion was also very good but the menus could get a tad confusing however they were very configurable (apologies for that mouthful of a word). You could fine tune the Billion really well. Last one I purchased had a 384 page manual! :eek:

I also like TP-Link as they had the same firmware as Netgear so were easy to find ones way around it. The bonus was TP-Link have a 3 year warranty. :ok:

Well the Asus has been flashed, reconfigured & is currently working again, but a Netgear router is on it's way. I'll be glad to get back to Netgear to be honest, the Asus was a bit of a hole!
