Hewlett Who

Printer HP ENVY 4507
Problem
When trying to print photos in a 7X5 format the printer flatly refuses to print
Bafflepoint:
Remove photo paper. Replace with computer paper cut to the same size as the photopaper and the thing hums merrily away printing to its hearts content.
No Hewlett Packard don't know either
Laptop and printer info all in sync.
If 7X5 removed and subsitutted for any other ie A4 or 6x4 it prints just fine

Any offers before I chuck it at the nearest wall.

Are you using Hewlet Packard's printer driver software, or generic printer drivers included with your operating system?

Last time I had a problem like this, there were two different programs causing a conflict on the computer. The paper size and settings in both programs had to be exactly identical or everything would lock up. Since 99% of printing was straight to A4, this problem only appeared when trying to print photos on 7x5 photo paper.

The most satisfactory solution was to disable the Microsoft Windows generic print driver and use the HP drivers exclusively.

Check in your control panel, printer settings, and disable Windows drivers, leaving the HP ones enabled. Consider disabling and/or deleting all printer drivers for your printer. Then download the latest drivers for your printer from HP and reinstall them. That should at least resolve any possible conflicts.

Yes, wot Gouli sed, or....
Oddly enough, with HP's reputation (a few years ago now) of bundling cr@p software with their printers, I refused to install the OEM stuff, and let Windows (prob. XP at the time) go away and find drivers. Huffed and puffed a bit, but did it. Nary a problem with any of the strange sizes and paper types I threw at it.
Then I had a hardware failure after about 200k copies. Junked the machine and had three different ones since. None of 'em as good.

Thanks Gouli thought it was a software bind somewhere

If windows 10 you may need to take measures to stop MS update over writing the drivers in the future. Source of much angst chez Moi.

I'm trying to print an A4 picture on photographic paper using an Envoy 5540. All it does is show up about 20 bands which renders it useless. Any ideas?

That would appear to be the printer trying to print the picture very wide and not very tall. There is a mismatch somewhere between the image size, paper size and possibly orientation. This can be caused by two different printer drivers clashing.

Delete and redownload the printer drivers from the HP site.

When printing pictures to photographic paper, always run a low resolution print on standard paper first to check everything is working how you expect. Saves a ton of ink and time in the long run.

Banding and moiré patterns can appear at certain combinations of image resolution and printer resolution. Resizing the print or image can help mitigate these effects.

me to have same problem earlier yo should place the paper in the pickup roller correctly otherwise it will show errors also try to remove old driver and install latest HP Envy 4507 driver
that will fix the problem
good luck

I have this with my 5540, it won't take photographic paper without fiddling about with the tray. When it does eventually print there are bands across the page and therefore totally useless. I wish I stayed with Epson.
