How do I quote in a post?
I must be having a brain-burp here, but if I wish to reply to a post and quote some or all of the text, how do I do it?
The FAQs suggest that if I use the Quick Post button that I will be offered a quote, but I do not see a Quick Post button! Each post has a "Reply" button and at the end of the thread there is a "Post Reply" button. I know it can be done because some posters do quote in a box, but also some posters simply quote the text from the post they are responding to. Many thanks for a heads up! Cheers! Clive |
- Hit reply
- check the URL in the title bar - edit it to remove the "1" at the end - refresh the page - voila! |

When you reply to a post, there is a menu line across the top of the "writing pad"
At the extreme right of this line is a symbol for YouTube. Left of that is the # symbol. Left of that is a "balloon" like symbol. Click on that and quote marks appear in the writing pad below. Copy and paste your quote in between the quote marks and post as usual. |
Wow, that was fast.
I originally posted in a different forum before I saw the Computer/Internet I&T, so copied it here. Went back to delete original post and it had been answered. Came back here to quietly delete and Wow, been answered here too. I going to go quiet now and await a bolxxxxxxx from a MOD. Thanks for your very fast reply. Cheers! Clive |
Don't quote me on that... :p

Don't quote me on that... 2) Press the Ctrl and C keys. ( i.e. copy the text) 3) Open the Reply box 4) Press the Ctrl. and V keys ( print the copied text into the reply box) 5) Highlight the copied text again 6) Press the "speech balloon" as described already. QED. ( now - posting photographs, I haven't cracked that yet despite reading all the advice ! ) |
You can post photographs existing on the public internet very simply.
Display photo in another tab/window Right click. 'copy image'. come back to Pprune hit CTRL-V http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ways_VC-10.jpgThere's your photo. If it's one of your own photos you have to store it into Dropbox or similar, then copy the URL, then paste it into the 'image' box from the menu line, and it will appear ......... white man's magic! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7593647/white.JPG |

If you have a mouse....... I have once achieved the same result on an iPad, but it was a PITA and I've never bothered since ! |
On a pad or tablet, simply type in the BB code. Easy. :ok:
Type in: [center][color=magenta][size=4][b][i] whatever [/i][/b][/size][/color][/center] and you get whatever ...and to quote just type [quote=fred]copy of whatever[/quote] becomes

Glad I found this thread, paste is greyed out when I go to paste the copied image, but only in the forum reply section where you can type.
I can copy / paste the image I want to post into other documents, just not into the PPRuNe thread. What am I doing wrong? TPP |
You can't post the actual image into your reply, just the URL pointing to where the image is stored (which has to be a publicly available location, such as photobucket).
Capetonian's post should read: Display photo in another tab/window Right click. 'copy image location'. come back to Pprune hit CTRL-V |
Thanks SD.
I've got an image on my PC hardrive I wanted to paste in. Will have to upload it somewhere into the ether first. TPP |
