Good ad block apps for tablets

I have tried to do a search through this forum but no joy so I apologize in advance if this has been covered before.

I have an iPad for which I use Atomic Web Browser. Until iOS 8 this was a cracking good product and stopped every ad. They do not seem to be keeping up with AWB support however, so I might soon need to look elsewhere to keep ads from sites when using the pad.

Thinking about getting an Android tablet for a family member. I use Chrome with Ad Block plus and Ghostery as extensions on my desktop and this works great.

I see though that Chrome for tablets does not support extensions (at least on the iPad). To me, any device and particularly a tablet are just completely ineffectual unless one can block the ads. That is why I use Safari for the iPad only when necessary. I simply will not buy another tablet unless I can be assured that it will not be ruined by constant ads.

Any good suggestions as to how to keep both the iPad and an Android tablet completely (or at least mostly) ad free?

You can use both Adblock Plus and Ghostery extensions on Firefox for Android. A number of other Android browsers also have adblock extensions. A search of Google or Google Play should find them.

Ok thanks. Have not used Firefox and so I did not know that it would work with Ad Block Plus and Ghostery on a tablet.

Any ideas for an iPad? As I mentioned, Atomic Web Browser is getting just a touch unstable.

Photon browser has an ad blocking option, easy to switch in and out. Dunno if available for iPad. Also has a useful flash player built in, enabled on demand.

Thanks Henry. I will take a look.
