ADS-B Receiver software
I just stumbled across a neat little program called dump1090. Its an ADS-B decoder that takes input from one of those cheap $20 SDR dongles. Seems to work OK. The Google map mode shows a few aircraft within ~20 miles of my house near SEA. But it is pretty basic.
Anyone have any leads on other (preferably freeware) aps? |

I don't see 'radar' screen shots, so I' assuming this product is the data service only. A mapping client is still needed. The dump1090 app has a 'network' mode. I'm not sure if its TCP30003 compatible (required by the above product). If not, the developer might be willing to add that support. At any rate, if this $20 dongle proves to be any good at all, we might be seeing more coverage by amateur spotters. |
FR provides readout from various sources - many from enthusiasts who have ADS-B receivers, and there are lots of them The output is not too good but it serves its purpose.

There are several software packages that do clever stuff with those little dongles. I use rtl1090 for SSR stuff, and SDR# for listening to radio in general from 30 MHz upwards. Both are impressive in what they do.
