Back Button Problem

I have had problems on forum type websites where the back button doesn't work. Hovering on the back button shows an ad to return to instead of the previous page.

It doesn't happen all the time, but Pprune seems to be one of the worst offenders. Many of the websites have vBulletin software while on others the software is not identified. I normally use MSN Explorer with Windows Vista, but have seen it happen on IE9/Windows 7 also.

On one of the sites in response to complaints, the administrators identified the problem as a bad ad.

Anybody else seen this and know of a solution?

the free version of MSN Explorer has not been updated for years, is insecure and non-compliant with HTML standards
Theres a jumping off point for your problem, everything else follows.
Uninstall MSN Explorer and see what happens

I've noticed it in IE 7, 8 and 9 - one workaround is to use the drop-down to the right of the back button to select the page you want to go to, or use site breadcrumbs to navigate back up the site.

The only other thing I can suggest is an adblocker. IE7Pro works for IE 7-9, but not 10. There are others, paid for and free.
