IE10 - YouTube Video Problem - Solved!

I just upgraded my IE8 to IE10 and ran into a You tube problem on PPrune.

Before all I had to do to view a You-Tube video as displayed on PPrune was to double click it and it plays to the end.

After upgrading to IE10 (Win7 machine) when I click on the You-tube display in PPrune it starts to play but after a few seconds locks up with an error message that there is a problem with the web site and I'm screwed and IE is closing.

If I click on the icon in the PPrune You-tube display to take me to the you-tube site it plays fine in that tab.

No other problems detected so far in IE10.

Do I have to click something in tools that didn't carry over from IE8 & 9 to make this work

Thanks for reporting this, lomapaseo. However, I was unable to replicate the behavior in IE10. I tested viewing a few YouTube embeds here in IE10, and all streamed as expected.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

No problems here with IE10 and embedded YouTube videos.

Thanks for the info. I can now confirm that I can also not click on similar video links in other IE pages although Direct clicking on you-Tube works. This suggests the problem is not PPrune specific but something not turned on in IE10. No idea yet on how to fix it.

There are some solutions for similar problems here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2013368

Just had a Fujitsu laptop with W7 - update had installed IE10 - when clicked, IE would not open. Rolled back to IE9 and no more problems.

I think you'll find these problems are due to the Flash plugin.
Uninstall, then reinstall the latest version

U-Tube Video Problem Solved

Early I had started a thread about not being able to play U-Tube videos directly from PPRune although if I opened the U-tube page link they played fine (thinking it was a recent PPRune problem).

I had up to that time no problem playing those embedded U-tube videos and figures that PPRune had turned off a switch disabling it.

The quick answer I got back suggested that nobody else was having such a problem. I then noticed that even U-tube videos on other sites could not be played as embedded but only via the U-tube site itself.

I'm using Win 7 on this computer (my other computers XP, Vista, work fine. However the latest program update that coincided with my problem was an Update to IE 10. OK it was simple to revert back to IE 9 but the problems persisted.

With help from my daughter (she does 90 % of the work and I kibitz) we tried turning off all non essential services (still didn't work). e then booted in safe mode and it solved part of the problem but no sound.

More trial and error and Kazaam she solved the problem by going to IE 10 tools-internet options-advanced clicking the on button "use accelerated graphics to use software rendering"

I have no idea what in hell that does nor why MS would plant such an unknown bomb in IE10 thus setting it even when reverting back to IE 9

I post this as it might help some other poor sod like myself
