Combining Bookmarks?
So often I find myself using one machine of three for a protracted period. I don't want to lose the newly gained Bookmarks, but nor do I want to scrap the old ones on 'tother machine.
Is there any way of combining the HTML files so they merge? (I can almost see the shaking of heads.) |
yes, with third party apps
which browser are you using? is it standardized across all three machines? |
Is there any way of combining the HTML files so they merge? A few minutes with the built-in Linux / Unix / BSD weapon of your choice (awk, sed, perl etc. maybe with a bit of diff and rsync for good measure.) and Robert is your uncle. Can probably do it with Powershell too, but likely to be more hassle (and more lines of code) than its worth. |
Firefox has an import bookmarks feature.
Only slight inconvenience is they end up in a 'From Opera' (or wherever) folder in the Bookmarks list. |
If it's Firefox, you can set up Firefox Sync, and you can choose what to sync: bookmarks, passwords, etc.

First hit on Google gives some starting ideas
How to Synchronize Bookmarks Between Computers and Browsers If you only use IE then you can synchronise bookmarks across multiple PCs by using the Skydrive feature of Windows Live Sync your Internet Explorer faves using Windows Live if you just want to synch Firefox bookmarks, then read this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...en%20computers |
Thanks everyone. I should have assumed others would have had that high on a wishlist.
I'll have a bash at it when I know those condensers are stable. :hmm: < picture of someone not counting their chickens. |
