My succesfully sent E mails being sent to inbox
 

OK running Thunderbird with googlemail, sent E mails return to inbox. NO idea how this has just started to happen.

Anyone got any clues as to why?

Have a look in Tools... Account Settings... Copies & Folders and see if any of the options for 'When sending messages, automatically: Place a copy in:' are checked.

I've stopped using gmail via any sort of email client as it seems to have a very odd way of working, and every now and then all the emails that I've deleted from the server, sometimes many months past, come back and flood my inbox. I don't know if this is something I've done wrong or if it's a known problem.

Thanks for that, Yes it does seem to throw a fast one now and again.
