Uninstalling a program that's installed...but isn't!

Evening all,

I've just tried to install the new version of itunes but the installation gets most of the way through but then I get a message saying that it's not allowed to install.

I've tried to run the current version of itunes but I just get a message saying that this is only allowed for a program that is currently installed.

I then went to the program list and lo and behold itunes is on the populated list. I then tried to uninstall it but it says that this isn't valid either.

So, itunes is uninstalled apparently, it's in the list of current programs in the control panel jobber so it is installed but I can't run it and I can't install the new version!

Gurus, help...please!

Try: iTunes 7.2 Screwed Up; Can't Uninstall or Reinstall - iLounge Forums

or: Itunes Can't Uninstall - Tech Support Guy Forums

If neither of those are useful google: itunes +can't uninstall

I always use this uninstaller, it uninstalls the program and then searches the registry and folders etc for leftovers and cleans them out.
Just be careful what you tick when cleaning the registry, only tick the individual items that it shows in bold.

Thanks GG and S21, windows uninstaller got it in the end, never heard of it before. I should have looked harder but I was ready to chuck it out the window.

:ok:
