Issues posting messages in Firefox 3.0.15
Hi there,
When posting replies to existing threads, I find that I can't use the apostrophe - it opens up a little pink search window at the bottom left of the page. However, it works fine when posting a new thread (like this one). Also, when replying to a thread, the cursor keys don't work, but they do when posting a new thread. Anyone seen that? This only happens on the PPRuNe site. I have also noticed that when I highlight some text to cut and paste, when I right-click there is no copy option - it isn't grayed out, it is simply not there... however if I click outside the Firefox window and then come back to the highlighted text, I can then right-click and copy the text. This happens on other sites too. Anyone have any ideas? |
Update to the current version 3.5.5? Other than that no.

Regarding the ' - it is a shortcut key for something called QuickFind (I know not from where it came!) which pops up if I select ' outside a reply box. Clicking inside the box works as normal. The search box on mine comes up in the taskbar.
I get the popup on any web page. It appears to be a piece of freeware. It's on 3.5.5 as well, gg - definitely something 'Firefox'. Not listed in add-ons or plug-ins. Found this and this |
OK well tried the second of BOACs fixes, it worked fine! Now I can add ''' as much as I want with no problems...
Anyone got any ideas on the copy-paste thing? |
Does this happen in all programmes? IE Do you have a 'copy' in word? What exactly are you trying to do with the cursor keys?

It's not a problem (unless you have a 'gremlin like remoak) - its quite a neat search function if you want to use it. I don't normally press ' much outside text boxes:)
