Unread Email notifications at XP Pro startup

When booting up and reaching the "home" user login screen, there are unread email notifications along with "x" number of programs running, visible just below the user name ( in this case - HOME )
Almost without fail I go to the flagged email account(s) and there are no unread emails.
How do I disable this notification? It's as much use as a blunt knife at a Bar Mitzvah.
Grateful as always

Try TweakUI from good old M$ there's an option in there to disable those notifications .. Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

You will probably find that the emails ARE there - it's just that you have forgotten (or do not know) about the email accounts concerned!

More about it and how to disable it. Windows XP Unread Mail Count

With thanks BOAC - I've edited the value without any collateral damage :ok:
GasPath - not sure if it was coincidence but after downloading the Tweak UI, all I got was a readme file which was the same as the information shown on the main d/l site. I also picked up a little nasty called Trojan.Hiloti which by all accounts is naught piece of kit. Malware Bytes has hopefully taken care of it - fingers crossed.
Thanks again for the assistance.
