TweakUI and shortcuts
 

I have W98SE and have installed tweakui one of the things I use it for is to get rid of the little arrows on shortcuts on the desktop. . .Now for some unknown reason the shortcuts have got the arrows back, even though in tweakui they are set as none. . .Has anyone come across this, if so, how to get it back? Is it just a case of reinstalling tweakui?. .Not earth shattering I know but I want it the way I want it and not Bill's way! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />. . . . <small>[ 15 March 2002, 20:02: Message edited by: spannersatcx ]</small>

Best way to get rid, is to re size the icons very slightly, and WAM, no arrows!!

Isn't this a great place! I had thundering hooves and thought it was just me - I had shortcut arrows re-appear and thought it was just me!. .. .Don't know about the above tip, but this worked for me - TweakUI was powerless for me too.. . <a href="http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/tune-15.shtml" target="_blank">Arrows gone</a>. .. .PS I think I recently 'upgraded' TweakUI - did you?. . . . <small>[ 15 March 2002, 18:50: Message edited by: BOAC ]</small>

Stoped working (my tip that is). .. .Shame.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ lnkfile . .and. .HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ piffile . .aren't there perhaps that is the problem?

Spanners - sometimes with Mr Gates we have to think obtusely to defeat him! Try setting arrows 'on' with TweakUi and then try again?

BOAC tried that and have reinstalled and updated tweakui, repaired icons and still no good, looks like I'm going to have to live with it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

The whole thing is caused by a microsoft security update, latest one march 2002, that'll teach me to try and stay safe, found the files as stated earlier the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ lnkfile . . I thought was ink, with a capital I where in fact it is Lnk with a lower case l (for lima).. .Deletes said reg entries and now no more arrows, wonderful.
