Permanent file deleting in print manager
Hi All,
I tried to print a document from my laptop using my sons printer. The document failed to print and to cut a long story short it turned out that the USB connection on the printer was damaged. I now have a file sitting in my 'active printers' box which says 'deleting' It has been deleting for 3 days :ooh: Is there a way I can get rid of this as its getting on my nerves sitting there in the taskbar. Thanks in advance |
This may help (assuming XP):
1. Restart the spooler service: Control Panel -->Admin Tools -->Services-->Print spooler-->Stop and start 2. Delete the actual files telling the spooler it has something to print: C drive --> Windows--> System32 --> spool--> PRINTERS --> There will be 2 files for every document that is in the queue. Delete them and restart your computer. Also How to cancel printing or to delete a print job that is stuck in the print queue in Windows XP Search for "problem deleting print job" in MS site. SD |
When this has happened to me in the past...
I usually press "pause" and then delete it... Think i have even put the printer offline and then paused, and then deleted... I now always pause current printing documents before deleting as i got this problem all the time |
Sorry Saab, I should have stated Im running Vista Home
