XP hibernation on Netgear wireless adapter
Have a very old laptop which is simply used as a backup machine in a bedroom.
It used to run Windows 2000 - worked perfectly well. Decided to install XP. All fine and dandy. But for the life of me I cannot work out why, when it comes out of hibernation mode. the wireless adapter doesn't wake up. I have to physically unplug/replug it. Then it comes into life again. The wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111T - the laptop is so old that it doesn't support USB2.0. That is not the issue - well at least I don't think so. So, as I see it, put Windows 2000 back on the machine - dreading the massive SP4 download ! Or try to work out the XP configuration. It is not a power setting before you ask. I have have explored all possibilities I don't particularly like Netgear equipment but I have ruled out that as an issue. I.e. tried different firmware etc etc. Raising a Tech case with them is like weeing in the wind !! Any suggestions ? |
Mine does the same, but not every time. I do the same fix with most windows problems ie dont do the thing that causes the problem, in this case I dont hibernate. I use the "stand by" facility which does a similar power saving/quick start up facility.

Just a shot in the dark, as I own neither (so don't shoot me!) but have you checked for a wake on lan setting in the bios?
