Pprune colour blindness test

Has anyone noticed that "verification code" we are asked to put in is sometimes hard to read? I was asked for "82HSCM" today but the first digit 8 was virtually the same colour as the background

Is this a way of weeding out Wannabees with poor eyesight................:hmm:

Perhaps this should be in Jet Blast But, why has this new feature been introduced? In "the good old days" you didn't even have to log in to browse the boards. Now, we have two hoops to jump through. As if life wasn't complicated enough.

I asked yesterday

It's not deliberatly making it hard

But you're still here Basil ... nothing wrong with your eyesight then. Just your intentions need a little stiffening, perhaps?

frostbite 19th Apr 2008 11:36

I know I'm pushing my luck by mentioning this but I haven't encountered any of this stuff that's been complained about over the last couple of days.

Try logging off and clearing your cookies, then log back in again.

(Don't bother, it really is not worth the hassle)

You obiuosly not only coulur blind but cant even read, I am not the one who mentioned this stupit introuduction on Pprune, read and open your eyes Idi....ot. I was right about Pprune attitude, look how long this thread lasted before it was shifited to MOVE.

I think the people on this sight should submit their thread to THE MODERATOR for approval before submitting it on this website.

As of today I am boycotting PPRUNE for a month and I encourage the people who oppose this new login nuisance to do the same.

Oh good. We won't have to suffer your crap speling.;)

Mr Grumps 19th Apr 2008 21:02

If you're a lazy ar5e like me and don't like logging in each time there is no problem as yet. My laptop still logs me in OK every time I come onto this forum.

chksix 20th Apr 2008 10:11

Can pilots be colorblind?

Sailor Vee 20th Apr 2008 13:48

No. It's the non-pilots having the problem! :E

I'd appreciate it if you wanted to boycott PPrune, to do it ASAP - makes it much faster for the rest of us :)

As for these "captchas" you'll find they're VERY common these days with almost every forum you try to register for. I am the first to admit I hate them (can never read them properly, despite being 20/20) but they're a good deterrent-for now-against automated bots registering and spamming.

planecrazy.eu 21st Apr 2008 21:38

I was prompted for one the other day, and couldnt login, typed it in right, and then it said loggin in **** and then returned to the forum index, where i wasnt logged in, tried cleaning cookies, etc, no luck...

Tried yesterday, and today, and not been prompted for capchas now?

So has this feature been removed...

Captchas in the first place was designed to make sure the user was a human, and not a machine using data... Now they are used on loads of things...

My opinion is, they should be used if you get your pwd wrong twice, like msn/hotmail...

When those little bot detection devils appear next time, try this:

Right click the picture and save it on your Desktop. Open the saved picture file (Microsoft Photo Editor is my default) and zoom in/out to get a better look and then type the cryptic combination into the verification box. *

One other thing that helps me with the d:mad:mn things is tilting the screen (or moving ones head) if you are viewing on an LCD. This action often changes the contrast of the image.

* As usual, prayer is optional.

or just keep pressing on the 'refresh image' link until you get one you can actually read.
