Mains electrics, current and wires
Not really a computer question, but does anyone know how much current is allowed to flow through 2.5mm mains (240v) cable.
It's not part of a ring, and it's aprox 7m long. Thanks.- I'm trying to work out the rating for an in line circuit breaker. |
A guide to selection of electrical cable
Nominal current-carrying capacity of general-purpose, two-core, PVC-insulated copper cables at 30 degrees celcius. Source: IEE Wiring Regulations table 4D2A Conductor size/Enclosed in a wall/Enclosed in conduit/Clipped to a surface/Free 2.5mm/18.5/23/27/30amps. |
Thanks ORAC:)

Doesn't apply if it's installed in a shed though.
