I need a new PDA

Oh wise ones,

I need a new PDA! I need to be able to input via a keyboard and do not need really advanced features and /or toys.
Advice please for a simple (ish) and comparatively cheap solution?
I know that the parameters are pretty sparse but all I need is a reliable plastic brain:O

PS I have "searched" and Googled at length = I just got more confused with the huge choice out there:ugh:

I don't know where you live but the Blackberry is getting very popular in the UK. Prices are coming down all the time as well.

I've used one for years and am a BIG fan of them:)

I like the Sharp Zaurus 5600 that I have. Got mine via eBay. I'd really like the 6000W model but they're hard to find & a bit expensive. Both Linux based with Opera, Office compatible software & integral keyboard.

HTC S620

I got one of these last year, which replaced an old iPaq and phone in a package 1/2 the size of either. Not bad at all, though the current version (Windows Mobile 5) doesn't come with a note-taking app, so you need to add one. WM6 will be a free upgrade, and includes Word & Excel, but I'm using OneNote anyway, synced to PC. The keyboard is very usable with a little practice.

If you look at Expansys, for example, all their current PDAs with keyboards are also phones, so if you don't want that, you prob. need to look at something older (and cheaper). I think there are still folks out there using the Psion Series 5, or HP Jornada 720...

I would go for a Nokia E61, avoid HP iPAQ's as although they appear to do everything, the battery lasts for about 2-3hrs, and is very fiddly to use. I have both, and default to the Nokia every time, will do most things, and the battery will last a couple of days.

Agree with AAF. I have an E61 and am very pleased with it. This is after having had a number of Palms (from the original 1000 thru Vx,3C,Zire7,T3) My T3 is now gathering dust on the desk.

Still using my old 'handspring' [ 2nd one- dropped one] though waiting for my son to lay a promised redundant palm on me

I'd recommend the newer E61i over the E61 it's much improved, much more stable WiFi support, slightly slimmer case and camera.
