Spyware prog

I downloaded Spyware Doctor from Google mainly because it's free. I have run it and found various numbers of spyware on several computers at home. What happens to those files? Are they quarantined or destroyed automatically? I cannot find any button or step to remove them from the computer. Is Spyware Dr another of those "free" programs that find problems but make you pay for the fix?

Try these. Both free.

SpywareTerminator

Asquared

Superantispyware

Or these. Also free, or free version. The first also has resident protection. All a bit more up to date than AdAware (the latest version of which, I think, is terrible) or Spybot, which is good, honest, a little dated,(old engine) but still useful.

IMHO Adware has become too bloated + slow to run so I tend to avoid it. Spybot Search and Destroy is flavour of the month for me and my colleagues. Simple to use + effective like all s/w should be.. :ok:

But rightly or wrongly I run full NAV and Internet Security which do slow down the start up process. Can I run programmes such as Spyware Terminator and others in parallel with NAV+IS without either rotting up NAV or NAV interfering with them?

Thanks,
mcdhu

Possibly. I've read of a user with SpywareTerminator and NIS 2007 that was then unable to connect to a certain site, troubleshoot still ongoing.
Norton is more likely than a lot of the other security programs to not play well with others.
If you try another resident program, like ST, make a restore point first, just in case.
