System Restore

As many of you will probably know, tiscali have had problems with emails not reaching their destination because of spamming. I believe they have now resolved this problem. However, when it first happened with me, I went into System Restore - only to find that I only had one checkpoint listed and that was the current day. I still have that problem. Only today shows as a system restore checkpoint and tomorrow that will be gone and tomorrow will show as the only checkpoint. I have checked that System Restore is enabled and that I have enough disk space allocated (8810MB and they recommend 200).
I would welcome any advice.

You are probably already aware of this, but check that you have enough free disk space for the 8.8GB selected. :8

1. Disable - restart your computer then enable System Restore.

Good Luck!

This may not be relevant to your particular problem (the problem sounds slightly different), but just in case, here is a copy of something I posted recently for someone else on this forum who was having System restore problems:

If you have Norton Internet Security 2006 or 2007 installed on a Windows XP machine it could be that you have "product protection" switched on in the Norton configuration. This means your computer will still create restore points, but you won't be able to restore to any of those created after Norton was installed. The following link tells you how to get around this, but it won't make your "dodgy" restore points usable.

I had this problem and as soon as I followed these instructions, no problem!

(Edited to apologise for serious over-use of the word "problem" !!):ok:

Thank you both for trying to help me.

I have 27GB of free disk space and I have tried all the suggestions - even though I have McAfee, not Norton but the problem continues.

Thnk you again.

Following a tip on here some time back ('Mac The Knife') I would highly recommend switching System Restore 'off' and opting for this excellent alternative:

Wont solve your previous problem, but should enable you to generate as many restore points as you want from now on.

It's a bit of a long shot, not heard of just 1 system restore point being available before, but you probably have nothing to loose by trying this reg. addition.http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
#278, or 289R look likely candidates.
Tried fixes from this site before, can be pretty good. Haven't tried this one, though.

Thank you also chaps for coming to my rescue. I will try Markjoy's fixes and, if that doesn't work, try Blue Sky Thinker's suggestion.
Once again, many thanks.
