Quicktime conversion

I have loads of these files that I want to burn onto DVD. Purchased a LG external DVD rewriter only to find it doesn't read quicktime files.

Any good conversion software out there? Tried the vlan but no sound came out.

Ideally to mpeg-1, -2, wmv, avi, wma.

Thanks
SS

SkidSolo -

The DVD writer doesn't care what the files are that you want to burn onto it.

You should be able to store ANY files on the DVD, but if you don't have the right software on your PC to use the files (e.g. Quicktime), you won't be able to access them.

Do you mean that you can store the QT files on a DVD, but you cannot then playback the files that you transfer to the DVD - e.g. in a DVD player?

Can you play the QT files on your PC? If so, what is the requirement to convert them to something else? Do you want others to be able to view them? If so, can't they use Quicktime?

They are extracted from camera and saved as QT files which I can run happily on the pc with the QT software.

I would like to put them on DVD but the writer I got (LG) and its software, PowerProducer asks for Import Files to create the movies, which I assume I can then burn, the file types are avi, mpg, mpeg, avi, dat, vod and dvr-ms. The files that will run on QT are .mov so it won't let me import.

Just wondering if there's a way around it. Running them on Windows Media Player is poor which suggests to compatibility/format problem.

Anything else I'm missing?

Yes, but surely you're just wanting to save them as a data file, than as a movie file. Is software perhaps trying to default to make a movie file, because it recognises QT as a movie?

MG, thanks - you have summed up what I was struggling to say! :ok:

I think I get your drift.

When I downloaded them as "data" files to cd before(from laptop) the dvd player would only display the jpegs/pic, no movies. Hence purchasing this rewriter.

Anyway, there was another software package that came with it called Nero and it appears to be doing its own encoding before burning and I can watch the clips on the big screen through the DVD player now.

Now I'm considering handing the rewriter back as it would seem I don't need it now, backups maybe.

Thanks anyway.
