Default home page probs (Hijack This log inc)
The homepage keeps defaulting to:
res://shdocvn.dll/blank.html and everything I do doesn't seem to change it. Having read some other threads I have run Hijack This! and have reproduced the log below. If someone could see if there is a Hijack, it would be appreciated, and any resolution would need a 'little' explaining! Thanks in advance 5mb Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 15:53:44, on 11/09/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\BT Yahoo! looks like you have been hijacked by about blank, try downloading cwshredder from Here that may solve your problem on its own. if it says it was unable to delete a .dll file you will have to restart the computer in safe mode find and delete the file then restart the computer and run cwshredder again
|
I've found "Start Up Sentry " is helpful - it asks if you want to restore your home page on every start-up
|
Thanks for the replies, tried out the cwshredder and that didn't solve it but did find something else! I thought I had already run Ad-Aware but mustn't as in a last ditch attempt ran it and case now solved.
Cheers for the advice 5mb :ok: |
