Write cache
Wonder if anyone can help with this?
I'm having a problem with unusually low disk performance. I've been advised to make sure that the drives "write cache is enabled" Would be greatful if you could tell me how to do this.. I'm running windows 2000 pro.. Thanks nooluv...... |
Right click "My Computer"
Select the "Hardware" tab Click the "Device Manager" button in the middle box Click the "+" next to "Disk Drives" Right Click the hard drive and select "Properties" from the drop-down Select the "Disk Properties" tab Tick the box if it isn't ticked to enable write cacheing Well that's how to do it, but to be honest, I'd be surprised if it wasn't already switched on. Have you tried all the usual stuff like a de-frag, disk tidy up etc ? |
Yeah thanks gizmocat you were right it was already enabled..
I had already done all the usual stuff. It was just a PC pitstop check that mention the low performance. I reckon it's because its an old drive & not up to todays spec. It seems to be working OK to me. Thanks for your help nooluv........ |
