help!!! hardware problem
 

Hi there

Can anybdy help with the following -

I have just re-intalled xp on my mothers pc - everything was fine until I tried to install a PCI Modem - now when I start up a blue screen appears for a split second then it asks if I want to go into safe mode/last known good config - when I try this it goes in a loop and restarts. The modem worked once then it starts again with the problem above

I have removed the modem and the problem above keeps re-occuring?

Any ideas?

When the computer starts up press the F8 key and then choose last known good configuration. You have to be fast to press the F8 key. If the computer boots into Windows you are too late and have to start again.

thanks for the reply - the modem was a bit of a red herring as I must have knocked a connection when I was putting everything back together - checked everything and it it booting fine now.
