XP and 256 colours

Hello chaps - have a friend who needs to run software which won't install or run on his win XPhome OS as it needs to utilise a display of 256 colours. Settings for the display will only allow 16bit or 32bit. Any ideas how to overcome this at all?

Use the program compatibility wizard.

Info here on Microsoft's site - they think of everything don't they :eek:
