Its asking for a disk I havn't got.
I've just attached an "Agfa SNAPSCAN 310" scanner to my laptop.
It didn't come with any drivers, but I was able to successfully download the them from the "Agfa" website. When I try install the files, I am asked to insert "the disk labelled Windows98," which I do not have. If I try and skip this message, I am asked to "switch on or connect your scanner," - the scanner is both switched on and connected. It would appear to be asking for files, "ScsiMap.sys," which I have downloaded to my desktop, and "DRIVER20.CAB," which I can't find. Any suggestions? thanks |
You may well have the files you are looking for in a folder called windows/options - that is if your copy of windows was pre-installed by a manufacturer.
(cab is short for cabinet which is a compressed folder holding the installation files for windows 98). |
scsimap.sys is in the Driver20.cab. It is required by Win98/ME, but not Win2K etc.
Driver20.cab |
amanoffewwords and ORAC, thanks, I'll give it a whirl.

gingernut,
I just want to verify that your computer's OS in Win98. If it is, then the disk the computer is asking for is you original Win98 CD that was used to install the OS. You could try the browsing option so that the OS looks in the directory: C:\Windows\Options\Cabs That is where most people put all the CAB Files from the Win98 CD. Take Care, Richard |
Cheers Richard, I'll take a look tonight. It is running Windows 98.
