Why won't my laptop go to standby?
G'day chaps and chapettes,
I use a Toshiba Satellite 5220. My common practice when retiring for the night solo in a hotel room is to set the machine to play an hour or so of music using Windows Media Player. As far as I know I've set the Toshiba Power Management properties to standby the machine when there's no activity for one hour. However, when I wake in the morning, the machine has failed to do to standby, yet the music's long since stopped playing, and I havent accidentaly selected repeat on the playlist. How do I make it go to standby mode when the music has finished? |
CC.
Until someone else comes up with a reason/fix here is a way of getting your system to shutdown after a suitable interval. (Sorry..it doesn't appear to support going to standby) on the Start menu use run and enter shutdown /s /f /t 3600 where the 3600 is the time in seconds (3600 = 1 hr) IF you find that you need to cancel the shutdown just run shutdown /a Now...what is on your play list ;) .. a little Bolero,... Any suggestions anyone??? PS make sure that you DO NOT have a sound associated with the windows shutdown or you will find the soothing music is terminated by that horrible windows TADA :p MAx |
