G'day All,

I have a Garmin 295 GPS.
I have a serial cable to connect the GPS to the home computer and have previously updated the database and operating software. These updates of course come with their own installers and are straight forward.

I would like to download flights stored in the memory. Does anybody know where the software to do the job may be found, and the capabilities of said software. Will it just print out a list of waypoints or can I print out the actual track etc.

There are a couple of flight analysis software available for cross-country soaring, most of which can download trajectories from Garmin GPS.
The commercial ones I am sure of are :
SeeYou, StrePla and CouTraCi. The last one is simpler (and cheaper).

If you want something free, you might use two different codes, one to download the flight from the GPS, and possibly to convert it to the widespread IGC format, and one to view it.

try OziExplorer from GPSOZ.com.au

This program is not aviation intended, but is great for seeing where you have been, and planning trips as well.

You can Upload, download print route maps, route lists, waypoint lists and more.

Have a play with Gartrip, a free verson with some limitations is available from www.gartrip.de/. I think it's great.

This Application originates in the UK. It is extremely powerful but not as intuitive as we are used to so you have to read the instructions to get full value!

There is a free trial version; the extra functionality of the full version is worth paying for. It interfaces with Autoroute Express too. But as you don't say where on the planet you operate, this may not be much use.

I haven't tried others; this does all I want in preparing for a trip and downloading after a trip.
