Browsing woes
Using IE 6.0.2800.
When browsing, I click on a page to view a link, and the new frame appears but refuses to fill in ! No matter how long I wait, nothing, only the empty frame with the hourglass icon. In order to view that particular page, I have to copy/paste the address into the address bar of the browser ! Any ideas ? ***Many thanks for the idea of downloading the new Java to sort out the proplem of the annoying 'runtime error' which was beginning to become troublesome ! *** |
You could try relaxing your security setting and - temporarily - turning off any software firewall. If the firewall is the culprit, you can configure it to be less paranoid.

very prompt service ! Thank you indeed, however, that has not done the trick.
Another clue perhaps, I note that the new window opened doesn't have an address ! Very odd indeed ! |
lis - I sometimes get links that fail, and it can normally be sorted by right-click/open in new window. Not sure why that works or why it went wrong in the first place.

Still no joy.
If I am on my home banking page for example and click to perform some function, the new window opens, blank( without even and address in the panel , egg timer, then nothing........... Can't pay any bills ! Terrible ! |
livinginspain,
There was a Thread about secure websites - I assume your bank is a secure website - not working with SP something or other for IE 6 from MS. Check that you have all the most recent patches applied from the MS update site. SD |
livinginspain,
Is this problem with more than one site that you can duplicate? Take Care, Richard |
Yes, this problem occurs in if I click on any site with a link to another page. When the new window opens, there is no address showing in the address panel.
I've now tried all the suggestions offered to no avail. |
livinginspain,
If you are running WinXP you could use the WinXP CD to do a repair. That should solve the problem. Take Care, Richard |
Thanks all, your suggestions appreciated, but no joy.
However, in the event that this situation happens on your machine, this worked for me "From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll 3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message: DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded. For more info have a look at http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#new_window " with thanks to Frank Saunders, MS-MVP at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...&lang=en&cr=US Cheers LIS happily browsing again..... |
