Loading Server 2003 onto XP Partition
What-ho fellow techies!
I've just been given a Server 2003 CD and I'm looking forward to some fun - not everyone's idea of fun, I know, but fun for me! Now - I've a 20GB HDD with 14GB free running on a 750 Deceleron and the whole lot is set to 1 single active boot partition. In my XP Pro Disk Manager (and with Diskpart in the DOS emulator) I'm totally unable to create a new logical partition - just one big blue line (and I do have Admin rights, of course). So, question is - am I able to load 2003 Svr onto the C drive as allowed or do I really need to reload XP and 2003 Svr from scratch and do the fdisk from there (I do have an XP Pro SP1 disk). Thanks (as ever), PSP |
PretoriaSillyperson,
Your best option would be a separate hard drive for Win2k3. Then just let the Boot Manager control which OS you boot into. ;) Take Care, Richard |
Well, after thinking about it a bit more I decided the same as you - so I "borrowed" a cheeky 10 GB chappie from work this morning.
Thanks Richard. PSP |
PretoriaSillyperson,
Sounds like a great plan. Let us know how it works out. Take Care, Richard |
