This has been puzzling me for some time. Whenever I use the XP help and support pages, most pages that I view have the abbreviation 'XOX' liberally sprinkled amongst the text. Sometimes whole bullet points are replaced by this mysterious abbreviation.

I should also add that for some reason quite a few of the help pages do not download.

Any ideas?

Try this article:

Help Files Are Filled with "XOX" and "XOX XOX" After You Install Visual Studio 6.0

This issue can be caused by Script Debugging being enabled in Internet Explorer 6.0 with Visual Studio 6.0 installed.
