Gameport to USB 2
I have recently purchased a new PC which unfortunately does not have a gameport.
Does anyone know if I can get a convertor so I can use my old rudder pedals and yoke for my flight sim? Thanks for any help. Eddie. |
Eddie,
You can buy PCI Gameport Cards. (Just a word of warning, Gameports are now considered legacy hardware and are going the way of the ISA Slots.) If you cannot find one, then adding a sound card like Audigy would do the trick: http://images10.newegg.com/productim...102-166-01.JPG Take Care, Richard |
This might work, you can buy it, or a clone, at Amazon for £7.79. Might work, even if the only reviewer had no luck.
You can get the Genius Soundmaker for £18.99 including shipping, and that has a Analog/Digital/Force Feedback game port. You'll just have to go into the BIOS of your motherboard and disable the onboard sound before you fit it. |
ORAC,
I pulled up the converter on the Radio Shack Website. Here is the Owners Manual: USB Game Port Adapter Note: It only mentions Win98. (It does not mention WinXP at all.) I think it is still worth giving it a try though. Take Care, Richard |
it's a Sitecom CN-108, it uses the Windows built in drivers and, according to them, is suitable for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP. - It doesn't support digital game devices, but should be OK for the equipment in question.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll let you know if it works out.
