vBulletin Version 2.3.0 "hosed"

Admin,

Today I made a posting to a forum, but the "last post" indicator for the topic suggests - erroneously - that it was over 5 days ago since anyone contributed. this means that topics aren't shown as "hot" as they actually are!

Quite clearly the software isn't operating correctly, so you might need to perform some info-surgery :-(

quaerereverum 19th Sep 2003 05:48

Sure.

It was the "TWA 800 and AA 587, History Ignored Will Likely be Repeated." topic.

However, software is usually "agnostic" with regard to content, so the particular topic should be irrelevant, unless - heaven forfend - the forces of manual intervention are at work :-(

Hope this helps solve the problem.

Cheers,
QV

OK.

Initially, go to the "Rumours & News" forum.

Then access "page 2" of this forum.

Locate the "TWA 800 and AA 587, History Ignored Will Likely be Repeated." topic. Look at the "Last Post" date: 14th September 2003 11:29 according to my browser (at this time).

Now, follow the link, and drill down to the most recent entry in the topic and check the date: 18th September 2003 08:43 according to my browser (at this time).

See the discrepancy?

quaerereverum, you were clicking on a link to the thread in question. The thread was moved to the new forum after the last post on the 14th. By clicking on the link you were taken to the thread as it stands now in the new forum and have added to it. The arrow icon means that the thread has been moved to a more appropriate forum.

vBulletin 2.3.0 is therefore not 'hosed'.

Thanks for the "heads-up".

Of course I did understand the symbology, but your explanation now clarifies the policy; so you are absolutely right in saying that the software itself is not hosed.

However, freezing the last post date at the time the topic is transferred to a "more appropriate" forum is quite confusing, as it gives the possibly impression that the topic is no longer "hot".

Then again, it's your game, and you can dispense the bat & balls as you see fit ;-)
