Sharing motor racing game between 2 PC's.
We recently bought "Porche- Need For Speed 2000" which our 2 kids really enjoy. This game has the facility of letting 2 players race against eachother on separate PC's by specifying the IP address of the 'client' PC.
So far no prob... our PC's are linked via network cable, and both machines "see" the other's hard drives and CD rom drives. Here's the hitch- how to run the game on 2 machines but with only one game CD rom disk. Even with a full installation, each PC still needs to access the CD rom disk. With a flash of inspiration, I tried installing the game on the client PC by accessing the host PC's rom drive. Installation went without a problem across our network, but GRRR- when you go to run the game on the client
machine it comes up with "Please insert the CD rom" even though the host PC rom drive (from which the client PC installed the game) is loaded. So how do we get the 2PC's to run the game using only 1 rom drive.

Ant, they want you to buy two copies. In agreeing to their license conditions when you installed it, you doubtless agreed not to try to and "squeeze two pax into one seat".
It is legal in some jurisdictions to make a backup copy of software you own. You will probably need a specialised piece of software to do this: most game CDs are equipped with some sort of anti-copying mechanism. See:
