Wrap (Quote) tags around selected text doesn't operate

I have frequent problems with using the "Wrap (quote) tags around selected text" icon in Pprune. It manifests itself by the complete absence of the quote tags. Thus I am not able to highlight a text I wish to comment on. I notice that when this happens the ability to actuate a smilie is also lost and all I have is a cursor.

Another attempt at another time reveals everything works as it should. And yet to my knowledge I haven't changed a thing. It happens about 50% of the time I use Pprune.

Would be grateful for your advice on how to counter this annoying problem.

what you do is type [......quote....]thenpasteinyourquote and then [/quote.......]

Just remove all the ..... i put in the middle of the [ ]s to stop it from working and ruining my frankly expert explanation. Have fun with your newfound knowledge, my son

Same problem, same solution as 'goodaysir' offers. Started when my computer updated itself to IE11, also have to drag and drop the Smilies if I want to use them.

Many thanks for your prompt replies (Gooddaysir and Parabellum).

I'll give it a go.
