I bought recently a new nokia, 2g and blablabla. Does anybody know if in dallas, texas if this is still supported? What are the requirements overthere to have some connection?

Well, which one is it? Is it dual, tri or quad?

If it's a quad band you should have no problems provided you can roam on a network there that is a partner with whoever your "normal" network.

Tell you what, tell me the model of your phone and which network you use and I'll find out what you need to know.

Well, unless those areas are on a strange frequency it should have worked. Stupid question - you had enabled roaming before you left UK?

Europe & USA ( GSM 850Mhz/ GSM 900Mhz/ GSM 1800Mhz/ GSM 1900Mhz )

Also, if you replaced the SIM with a local provider's one you'd have needed to ensure the handset was "unlocked" in order to recognise the local SIM card.

(although this is unlikely your issue)
