I have been scanning in my collection of old Picture Postcards to "My Pictures".Unfortunately the Title of each has been appearing under "Background"in the "Display Properties" box,ie having right clicked on an empty area of the desktop. They aren't really doing any harm there but the file will just expand ad infinitum,so can anyone advise me on how to delete them, please?
PS Before anyone Nominates me for the "Anorak of the Month Award" a note of explanation would not be amiss.During the early 20th Century many photographers had a lucrative sideline recording local events and producing the print with a Postcard backing. In many cases Photographers were attached to Military Camps in the First World War and troops were able to send home pictures of their parades etc.I have one old card from 1904 showing "The Great Rick Fire" at a nearby farm. Many events were recorded in this manner that would otherwise have been forgotten. Also I don't believe that Newspapers were able to print photos at the time.
PPS I am running Win XP

I'm asuming that XP is the same as '98 from this point of view, but I'd guess that you are saving the pictures in the WINDOWS directory.
Save them in a newly created directory (or MY DOCS etc)and that should solve the problem.
Moving the existing files into this new directory will also remove them from the BACKGROUNDS default directory.
Fester.
