IE execuatable file ? (I've lost IE??)

This might sound like a stupid question, but I seem to have lost IE and can't find the execuatable to generate an icon back to it.

Its definitely on my system, but at present the only way I can run it is to click on say an email with a link .....

I've looked in all the obvious places like 'Windows' and 'Program File' folders ... ???

By using the standard Windows search function, seach for the file
iexplore.exe , and when you've found it, right-click on it and choose "Add to Startup Menu".

Mac - LOL

But noblues, if you want to get it back, try going to Control Panel, Add / Remove programs, Add / Remove Windows Components - there you should find a check box beside IE. You may have to uncheck it, restart and then recheck it and restart, or something like that.

Worth a try - then download Firefox. Or Opera.

Just done a search, ironically I only found a shortcut in an Adobe folder, which had properties pointing to "CProgram Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" Where I have looked on numerous occasions ... is it a hidden file ??

Re. FIREFOX ... Yeah, been using that for a while, love it ... BUT their are just few sites that seem to work better in IE, as much as I hate to admit it!

PS : On another note ... I can't get my URL bar in IE ,,, If I go .. VIEW-TOOLBARS- the top three options (Standard Buttons/Address Bar/Links) are not selectable ... strange?

PPS : Saab Dastard .. yeah that worked also using add/remove windows components ...

Actually there's no way you could lose IE altogether unless you try pretty hard. Check these links:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293907/en-us
http://www.stopie.com/removingie/
and see if reinstalling IE solved your problem. You'll need to have IE at least for configuring your automatic updates at http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/ .

Check this one out for restoring toolbars, I haven't tested it myself though.
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm .

Does Start - Run (write "iexplore" ) work for you?

Thanks DBTL ...

The http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm link worked for the toolbar ...

Strange ... although its there now, its still not selectable via the View-Toolbars option ... maybe its from a 'hijack' or spyware that has done irreversable damage ...
