Ferry Flight from Brazil using FAA cert - help please?
 

Hello,

I am looking for advice please. What would I need to do, in regards licence, permissions, etc, to ferry a Brazilian registered biz jet through the US to Europe. I have an FAA licence and US visa's. Thank you in advance.

Without going into too much detail there are a number of questions that need answered that might make a difference.

Is the aircraft going to be de-registered on leaving Brazil or will it retain it's Brazilian registration?

Is the flight a definitive export or a temporary repositioning flight?

Is the owner, or prospective owner, Brazilian?

If the aircraft is going to stay on the Brazilian register is there a particular reason why the current crew can't operate the flight?

As to your questions;

The aircraft will be re-registered in Europe.

The flight is a definite export.

The new owner is not Brazilian.

It will not stay on the Brazilian register. They have no crew for the aircraft. The crew positioning the aircraft will be the new owners crew.

OK, that clears up a few things.

From a pilot's point of view you should have no problems with your FAA certificates for this type of operation, "foreign" pilots ferrying aircraft out of Brazil is a normal occurrence, especially with new Embraers.

The bureaucracy involved is another matter, hopefully that will all have been taken care of by the parties involved in the sale and you just turn up, file a plan and take off. If you need to make an intermediate stop in Brazil en route make sure that you have every single piece of paperwork on board.

IIRC it is normal for the Brazilian registration to be cancelled before the definitive flight out of the country, but again those involved in the sale should have all of that covered. There should be a specialist export company involved in the process, and they should have everything needed for you.

I would recommend that you get in touch with whoever is organizing the sale at this end, and the ANAC office closest to the point of origin. The RHBA regulations were recently replaced by RBAC, which incorporated one or two changes, but I can't see anything different that would influence your part in the story.
