CC-PIC minimum to take a IR-rating in Brazil and more..
 

Hello!
I´m a holder of a JAA CPL-A.
And I´m planning to move to Brazil to continue with my Pilot career, so I´m wondering what the minimum hours of CC-PIC (Cross Country Pilot in Command) are to be able to take a IR/IFR rating in Brazil?

Cause I´m planning to convert my JAA CPL to a ANAC valid one and then continue with ME/IR JET-Training and PLA-Theory (that´s is what I understand that you will need to have a chance to get a job there).

Then, if anyone knows if the PLA-Theory is as heavy as ATPL-theory here in Europe? Like almost 14 exams and so on..

And if you guys know any good school to take me/ir near the Brasilia area?

(and I am aware of that you must have a citizenship in Brazil to be able to work as a pilot)

Do you have Brazilian citizenship ? If not you will not be able being hired as a commercial pilot. This topic is well documented here.

As I wrote I'm aware of that fact..
No I do not have it at the moment but I am half Brazilian and Swedish so I have the right to get it, just have to do the paperwork..

Oh, you're golden then. Market is good right now, hurry up !

I will do my best and just hope that ANAC does not take so much time to finish all the paperwork during the conversion of my CPL!
Will be glad if someone else have some answers on my other questions!! :)

Yeah sorry, I'm in Colombia, the conversion is different.

The latest from ANAC is 150 total with 70 as PIC.


No, it's quite a bit easier, several tests and a few presentations.

But do you know if it is any minimum of "CC-PIC" (cross country pic (I think more then 25 Nm from departure aerodrome)) you will need to be able to do the skilltest for IR-rating?

Or is it maybe not even a requirement? Just the 70 "normal" pic?

I have been checking out the Aeroclube de Braslia but i don't think that they have any twin-engine aeroplanes sadly.. But I will get in touch with them and ask at least!

I cant answer all of your questions !!!

But what i can say is that there are a few good pilot schools in Sao Paulo and in the Nordeste of Brazil. I have seen a few pictures on Airliners.net !!!

Other than that, you will have to look under the Aeroclube names to find what you are looking for. Then there is the school that offers the theory and then sends the students to a Aeroclube to do the flying.

All i can say is that, a few hours on the internet and you will have a A4 page full of places to look at. Some webpages are quite poor in quality in must tell you.

Best thing to do, is to book at trip around brazil and have a one on one look at the places that you most fancy.

That is the picture I have seen too, that the best schools is in the Sao Paulo area.But I have seen that I may be able to take my IR-rating at the aeroclube in Brasilia (Luziânia).

And I agree with you, I will be heading to Brazil in de beginning of November to do exactly what you said, go around and se what the places has to offer! :)

Have you made yourself familiar with Brazilian regulations? This might be of interest not only for a future carreer but also for some written tests you might need.

According to RBHA 61 in order to be elligible for a CPL license you will need at least 150 hours TT, from those, at least 70 must be as PIC. For the IR rating, they will ask you 50 hours as cross-country PIC at least (so try to make at least 50 from the 70 as cross-country flights - my suggestion: make all of them). Please note that at least one of the fligths must have more than 300Nm total. Then, for the IR they will ask 40 hours IR training, but 20 can be flown on a training device.
