JAA licences recognition
Dear pilots,
Do you know the recognition of JAA licences in south america or central america? Or if the airlines recognize only FAA licences? |
Regardless of where you will fly, you need the local license and that involves a conversion. JAA is widely accepted so no problem there.:ok:
|
All the French Islands, and F. Guiana will allow you to fly on your JAA, so many places in the Pacific.
The Dutch one allow you to fly on a FAA license for a year, then you need to sit the tests for the local license, not sure but it may work also for JAA licenses. Usually as long as you hold an ICAO license and you go to an ICAO country there should be no problem... |
Great, do you know or have you hear some feedbacks for little airlines with caravan fleet in panama, honduras, etc...??
|
very few hire outside the country, and the few that do have pretty high requirements, depending on the market it may take at least 1000TT to get a job....
|
Even if I want to fly on Caravan? They ask 1000 Hours?
|
Especially for a Caravan, you will be flying around single pilot.....don`t know of many that would put a fresh CPL holder or any low timer alone on a Caravan.
You may have some luck on a Britten Norman Islander, I don`t agree with this, but in Guyana there is a company (Roraima Airways) where you can start on the Islander as Co-pilot, paying for each hour (I`s pretty cheap) then when you get to 800 hours you will be upgraded to capt if they need pilots.... |
Wow, I didn't know they were charging for that nowdays. Anyways the 800 hours is actually a regulation. You can't fly solo there till you get 800 hours in the bush.

What about getting a B737 job in South America??
