I've heard before that GOL h.r. folks are known for taking bribes from those willing to buy their way in.....heard this from their own pilots....

Knowing someone on the inside will get you much further than bribing HR, who frankly have close to sod all to do with pilot selection.

Still, your comment did give the two Captains I watched the opening of the World Cup with a good laugh. Anyone dumb enough to think that bribing HR would get you selected is simply too dumb to be a professional pilot :rolleyes:

Would you call smart to pay EJ 30k for the job? I dont know, havent done it, but my career did not progress same way other people experienced.
However, heard Barioni is starting a cargo airline, did anybody heard something reliable about that?

I don't call paying anything at all to EJ smart, but those who have the money (and some who don't) seem to think it works.

Its the Brazilian P2F... I regret although its ilegal and even ANAC knows about it they didnt do anything about it when they had a chance!
luckily now companies like Passaredo Azul and others are hiring people regardless of flighttime, maybe this way we can avois BIC-pilots...

Its a shame, this country is not investing in airport infrastructure, there could be so much more...

I thought there was a shortage of pilots in brasil?

They started a paying scheme for students to take the pilot course, and you tell me there are 2000..

If 2000 are on the waiting list I think I skipped a few hundred because I may start the TQ soon.

Even though there might be 2000 candidates applying, it doesnt mean you have 2000+ adequate, unemployed, pilots sitting there waiting for the merci of a sm1 taking them.
As the grass frequently appears to be greener at your neighbor, so for many pilots here jobs seems to be better at the other company. So there are many guys from Web, tam, G3, passaredo, AD, applying to eachother company. Most companies in Brazil dont value seniority, so your salary will stay the same if you are 1st year or 10th, this motivates many to look for the shorter way to upgrade.

As TOFFAIR says, many of those on the list are already employed in one form or another, and probably applied some time ago. Many of them will have applied to other airlines, both in Brazil and abroad, so knowing how many are actually available today is not an easy task.

There are also a lot of low time folks on that list, who will be passed over by more suitable applicants, but still have a slim possibility of being called. There might not be a pilot shortage in raw numbers but perhaps there is a shortage of suitably qualified pilots, at least in the view of the airlines?

The "pay for training" scheme benefits who exactly? It's one giant step along the road to "pay to fly" FOs seen in some other parts of the world, which hasn't exactly been a huge success has it? :ugh:

I just read that Azul will announce the purchase of 20 ATR's next Tuesday, good news! A different a/c means more pilots, more fa's and more jobs on the ground. I am curious about the strategy, I don't think they will compete with TRIP, more likely to TAM/GOL.
With the current situation in the Brazilian market I have my doubt's what is going to limit the grown, pilots shortage (suitable pilots) or the infrastructure. I read an interesting article written by D. Neelmann telling how the infrastructure could be improved without using huge amount of tax money that eventually would end up in the pockets of a few selected men/women.
Let's be honest, the current increase has nothing to do with World Cup or Olympic games. These two events are just a bonus.

Just moved back here from the US, and I tell you... we need a lot of work regarding infrastructure, especially with the 2014 world cup and 2016:confused: olympics coming up, Ha! It will be very interesting... Hopefully whoever wins the election cares about our aviation...

... dont make me laugh! forget your hopes on politicians, no matters who wins they will not make it happen. The reason is obvious: money! The tighter the schedule gets, the more presure from media, the most likely they will be able to bypass the licitation and formalities usually highly burocratic required for the work needed to be done. This opens the big gates of corruption minded fellas who will soak the money available, plus that they can get on top to make a fix (dar um jeitinho!) just the nescessary not to stall the countrys transportation system altogether...

No pilot shortage in Brasil
 

Tehre is no pilot shortage in Brasil and the reason its obvious if there were shortage salaries would improve and/or working conditions.
Right now they give only minimum days off required by regulations salaries are still low (going up) but still far from 10 years ago when FO's use to make what they paying for captains today.
Plus Brasilian pilots should stop braging government and start to understand that government are just a reflex of the people in other words if pilots in Brasil don't stop breaking rules and laws afraid of losing their jobs they will never be respected. Still captains there boarding passenger w/o checking weather. Recently an accident that total the airplane was caused by a pilot who took off with weather below minimuns and not only that he also decided to go ahead and try the IFR procedure and went down below mins and of course crashed. It was not general aviation it was 135 or 121 freighter E-110 Bandeirante.
So how they expect the authorities to respect them if they don't respect themselves?
Hope conditions improve for several expats (me included) go back to our country.

I hardly doubt things here will get better.............. People are on a different world here.

Can you provide more details for those who are also looking for an opportunity? Things like your background, total time, selection process etc.

I lived abroad for almost the half of my life so my interview at Azul was the very first one in Brazil. Therefore, I was curious, but at the same time, a bit nervous. I’ve done interviews in 2 foreign languages but never in Portuguese, so sometimes I couldn’t find the right word.

I had a very good impression from the moment I entered the building until I left the premises. The selection is as following:

• Presentation of the company, what are they looking for etc etc.
• Group tasks (very fun to do) and you have the chance to discuss a few subjects.
• Technical test (multiple choice) several ATPL subjects.
• Lunch
• Interview – They evaluate you individually and your technical knowledge.
• English test (they evaluate your conversation level, reading and listening).
• Medical check
• Drugs test

The results from the drugs test takes approx 15 working days, then you get the result from the selection by e-mail.
