Port of Spain or Piarco

I'm going to Trinidad on holiday soon and, of course, I want to get the TAFs & Metars for the weather.

I've found ICAO codes for Port of Spain (TTPS) and Piarco (TTPP), but I can't find any reference to PoS airport anywhere on a map or online. Are they the same place? Has PoS been renamed to Piarco?

Port of Spain is called Piarco Airport.

There is only 1 airport in Trinidad and it is located outside of Port of Spain, the name of it is Piarco (TTPP). Check

Hey there,
It is true that there is only one aiport on Trinidad, but by any chance, did you mean Tobago. That's more of the tourist destination in the country. If that's what you meant, then Tobago has its own airport...Crown Point International Airport

Take care

TTPS, Port of Spain refers to the old Sea plane base or Aqua drome in the Port of Spain Harbour. No longer used of course. Days of Pan Am Clippers etc. You will find the same for many of the Caribbean Islands where the coastal city has/had a seaplane base and thus still has a separate four letter code to that of the main airport!

Thanks for your assistances, I've just returned, courtesy of BWIA, from Piarco.

Jed A1 - a logical explanation - thanks. I was a bit dubious that one airport would have two codes associated with it.

YYZ to POS, take your point about Tobago being the tourist island, as we spent the first week in the mountains in Trinidad and the second on the beach on Tobago. So I got to visit three airfields in Trinidad & Tobago.

3?

We went to Piarco, Crowne Point and Waller Field.

Waller Field is a WW2 base, disused but still visible from the air. I believe it was used as a staging post for a/c transitting to Africa and for anti-submarine patrols too. Now its used as a drag-racing strip. But thats not why we were there.
