Situation in Brasil

Does anybody know of the current situation of commercial aviation in Brasil? Is VASP really going to get 75 new aircraft? Lots of rumors going around here. Wondering how much truth there is to it.

Judging by the fact that some of China Airlines' new guys are people from Varig and Vasp, I doubt that this rumor is true.

I'll run that by them tonight <bg>!

Thanks for the info Jim. Hopefully we'll fly together soon:D

VASP did a “selection” some time ago, but I think is only to get some cash - because is the “you-pay” type of selection. They apparently got new 732 but they will repalce the older ones. So I´m afraid that there is no news on the front.

Dear varigflyer,

Your name should only be a mention a company you like it.
The situation of the Professional Pilots in Brazil are terrible.

Low Salaries, poor work conditions and many experienced pilots looking for jobs. No chance to change in many years i suppose.

Regards

vent

Dear Vent,

Aviation in Brasil has always been bad and it will always be but people are still getting in. I have a few friends flying there right now that got on less than a year ago with very little time. I guess all we can do is hope. I still think it's a good place to start your career but definately not to finish it.
