hi question about seaplane
 
hi
my name is james(nickname)
from s.korea

maybe i will go to canada next year

i d like to take the course about ses(single engine seaplane) and mes(multi engine seaplane) in one academy

only float type!!!!

it is not easy to find ses, mes academy in canada through the googling

(question1)
can you recommend the seaplane academy in canada? also website?




and

i already found the seaplane academy in america (like a sheble aviation...)
but in america, i cant convert icao cpl to faa cpl
they may convert my icao cpl to faa ppl
if i addon ses, mes to my faa ppl, when i come back to korea,
i may have a ses, mes ppl license
i dont have enough time to take faa commercial (sel, mel) course

if i get a job, i must have a commercial license about ses, mes

does canada tc convert my icao cpl to canada cpl ??
is it easy?? how long time?
what should i do?

Anyohaseo, James!

Where you will have to go depends upon the season, as many floatplanes in Canada will be shut down from October to April or May. There is no such thing in Canada as a MES rating - you get your Multi rating, and then you get your seaplane rating, and it is automatically considered to include multi/sea.
A good place for a seaplane rating is Ocean Air Floatplane Training / Seaplane Training - Float Plane Charters -Seaplane Charters - Victoria, BC, Canada - Ocean Air Floatplanes, in Victoria, BC. Dave has lots of training and operational float time, and will set you up in a C-180.
I'm not sure that I know of any multi/seaplanes for rent or training. You might try Randy Hanna at Seaplane academy in Nanaimo, BC +1-250-616-5885 as he used to run a twin of some sort on floats.

I know nothing about Licence conversion, sorry!

HI James,

If you choose to come to Ontario. Lake Country Airways is a great place to learn floats:

Lake Country Airways: floatplane training, endorsements, float charters and rentals

Ontario does have a shorter float flying season than BC, here it is Late April to October, though I did land in the water two weeks ago, and again today in the same place, on the ice!

BC is beautiful, and there is excellent float training there too. Ontario probably has more good flying days, and more stable weather in the summer. Lake Country Airways is not far from Toronto, where you would have a number of options to do multi training.

It only takes ONE week-end at Aviation Seminar (Commercial) or two week-ends if you also want to pass the instrument written Aviation Seminar (Instrument).


i already found the seaplane academy in america
To get a SE sea rating I would suggest Alaska Floats.

I guarantee you will never regret it!

Randy had both a Beech 18 and a Aztec Nomad on floats, however he sold that company and has just received his operating certificate for sea plane training both single engine and multi engine.

Single engine training is offered on a Cessna 180 and also training on a Husky Amphibian is available.

The multi engine training is available on a Beech 18.

Personally it is my opinion that spending money on flying something as expensive as a Beech 18 is only justifiable if you have a job prospect in mind that requires being able to fly a multi engine sea plane.

And a lot of how to operate a multi engine sea plane can be learned without actually getting in the air.

So be wary of spending a lot of money on multi engine training unless you are sure you need it.

Well, even if I wanted to go back to training there would still be the problem of TC not approving of my training.

So it would not be fair to the students.
