FAA vs NAV Canada..CNN report

For those interested CNN did a segment this week at YYZ tower and the ACC in relation to the problems the US controllers have been having over the last month (sleeping on the job etc) and how NAV Canada compares. More interesting to read the comments after the article on the webpage seeing the usual US vs Canada bashing comments. Glad I am a foreigner!

If you read the comments on almost any news story on any website you'll find that stupid and nasty comments tend to dominate.

They didnt mention the cost of Nav Can, example, CYOW /CYRP, air time four and a half minutes, fee $ 47:46, this for a fairly small twin {Cessna 421B} VFR, company flight note.Wont even get into lost flight plans, stupid routing, and their hiring policy, also reduction in nav aids, the list goes on. I gues the quote, "Ahead of the curve in technology" wasnt refering to CATS!

That will be for another episode. :)

And I can't complain about the hiring policy as they hired me.

I quote from the CNN report.

"Last year they won the IATA Eagle Award winner means they were judged the world's best Air Navigation Service Provider."

It takes the "world's best" over a year to publish a new instrument approach procedure in the Restricted Canada Air Pilot.

To be fair, many of the RCAP procedures require survey data from the aerodrome operator which sometimes is not the speediest to obtain.

I have seen procedures take half that to publish in the RCAP.

No, I don't work for NC.
